Sports Day
Sports day is one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the school calendar. It is a day filled with excitement, fun and team spirit.
Also, the children look forward to competing in various sporting events such as running races, throwing events, ball games and other activities.
The atmosphere is filled with cheering, encouragement and clapping for the teams and individual children
Nursery Sports Day is a cheerful and energetic occasion that celebrates movement, teamwork, and fun for young children.
Held outdoors wherever possible, it gives children the chance to take part in simple activities that encourage physical development, confidence, and a love of being active.
Although friendly and relaxed in nature, the day is filled with excitement, laughter, and a sense of achievement for every participant.
In the days leading up to Sports Day, children may practise basic skills such as running, balancing, or throwing, often without realising they are learning.
Teachers help them understand turn-taking, listening to instructions, and supporting their friends.

Events are carefully chosen to suit nursery-age children.
On the day itself, families are warmly invited to watch, cheer, and celebrate the children’s efforts.
We also want to create a welcoming and positive atmosphere.
Popular races might include a short running race, an egg-and-spoon race, a beanbag balance, or a simple obstacle course.
These activities focus on participation rather than competition, allowing every child to feel successful.
Children are also encouraged to try their best and celebrate one another’s achievements.
We want them to enjoy the experience rather than worrying about finishing first.
Teachers and support staff guide the children with patience and enthusiasm, helping them feel comfortable and confident.
There may also be colourful markers, bubbles, or music to add to the festive mood.
Children often wear matching T-shirts, bright stickers, or team colours, helping them feel part of a group.
At the end of the event, children may receive certificates, stickers, or medals to recognise their effort and bravery.
Families are encouraged to take photographs and celebrate the special moment.
The day often also concludes with refreshments and time to play with friends.
Sports Day highlights the importance of physical activity, friendship, and positivity.
It also reinforces that every child is capable, unique, and deserving of praise, building confidence as they continue their learning journey.
